For my final major project at Ravensbourne, I created Morningstar, The Average Sinner’s Guide to Hell, a satirical guidebook highlighting the hypocrisy of modern-day Christian conservatism. Inspired by research into lots of different perspectives on Hell and the afterlife for ‘sinners’, the book flips these conventions to create a bright and colourful piece.

The book is divided into two parts. The first is the general guidebook, inspired by the world-building perspectives of Dante (The Divine Comedy: Inferno) and John Milton (Paradise Lost) as well as historical references on Christian demonology (Ars Goetia and Pseudomonarchia Daemonum). Following introductions, the book goes into details about the different ‘Torture Plans’ average sinners can sign-up to pay off their immortal debt. The second section of the book is a fictional Torture Log with blank, spreadsheet-like pages where the sinner’s eternal torture can be recorded.
